Yesterday Write On Sports went to South Bend – WNDU studios. When we were there we interviewed Angelo Di Carlo. As we walked in we saw Di Carlo in a funny suit. He was wearing a shirt and tie with shorts because when he is broadcasting you can only see him from the waist up.
Di Carlo told us a lot of things about himself. Like when Di Carlo was younger he helped work in the family cable business. Di Carlo’s family ran cable cords over mountains and to houses. We couldn’t imagine what we would do with only 3 channels.
At age 16, Di Carlo was working with cameras and a teleprompter. Di Carlo had two cameras and a teleprompter pad. Di Carlo had to do it all by himself. Di Carlo said, “That’s one of the most difficult thing that I have ever done.” Today, Di Carlo is laughing about it.
A few years ago, he was broadcasting on the side line outside in winter. It was “December 8th. Tt was 3 degrees and I could not feel my chin.” Today he and his brother are laughing about it.
Today he is broadcasting in different weather as a sports anchor. Sometimes today he thinks about what else he would have done other then being a sports anchor. Di Carlo told us that he could have been a lawyer instead of a sports anchor.
Di Carlo loves his job very much and will stay there for many more years to come.
