Angelo Di Carlo was interviewed by the Write on Sports campers on Wednesday, July 9th. Di Carlo talked about his job and all of the things he has done in the world of news.
Di Carlo said that he enjoys his job and that “there’s a lot of good perks.” Di Carlo has been around sports and news since he was a young child and worked for one of the first cable companies in the world. Di Carlo currently works as a sportscaster for WNDU channel 16.
Di Carlo may enjoy working as a sportscaster, but that doesn’t mean it’s all fun and games. He has to work weekends and works about 75 hours each week.
The job is very time sensitive and sometimes he has to come up with new material just a few minutes before he has to go on air. Since being a sportscaster is a full time job he doesn’t get many days off and can’t go visit his family in Pennsylvania as often as he would like.
During the interview Di Carlo said how “sometimes it’s more fun to just watch sports.” With all of the sacrifices he has to make and the not very high pay, who wouldn’t feel like that sometimes?
But despite the sacrifices Di Carlo has to make, it’s still a fun job. Even with the pressure that can be put on him he still loves to do it. “It’s the adrenaline rush,” said Di Carlo.
The job does has plenty of positives to balance out the sacrifices. He gets to go to many sports events and be on the sidelines for reports. Di Carlo has all the energy and positivity needed to make the job to make the show enjoyable to watch and have fun while doing it.
