Goshen,IN-Do you take your grades seriously? Well there is one soccer player who does, and her name is Gaby Romo. Romo says that in college everything seems backwards,”I would wake up and have soccer practice first,”said Romo. After soccer she had weight lifting. According to Romo, by the time she gets back from weight lifting she has to go to her evening classes. By the time those start, Romo says that she has to try very hard to stay awake.
When Romo was younger she used to play soccer with the boys,”Yeah, I would play with the guys and would be the only girl playing,”Romo says, kind of laughing. She also played with her siblings, which includes four brothers. When she would play with them she would get more bruises, get used to getting yelled at, and would learn how to be tough.
When the question came up if she liked any other sports other than soccer, she said,”No,” with a straight face. Romo said that watching the Super Bowl isn’t that bad and same as the NBA, but she stays loyal to soccer and doesn’t like many other sports as much as soccer. Another question that was asked was,”What team did you want to win for the World Cup?” The response was, “Mexico.” Romo wanted Mexico because she is from Mexico.
When it comes to education Romo has it down. She said that you had to consist of a 3.5 GPA. If they didn’t have a 3.5 GPA then they wouldn’t be able to play the sport that they were playing. According to Romo soccer is like your job. Romo says that her HS coaches influenced her the most. They were family orientated and they taught her how to deal with a little bit of anger issues. Romo’s inspiration is Christian Ronaldo. Last she said that if her teammates described her they would say that she was weird, funny, and had cheesy jokes. When it came to game time she was a leader.
