Gabby Romo had a chance of a life time to either go play for IPFW or stay at Goshen. It’s a hard decision, but that’s not how it all began.
Today, Gaby Romo and Robby Howard came to Newcomer at Goshen College. Write on Sports asked both of them a lot of questions like what would you have different than be a soccer player or reporter. Romo started to play in soccer in elementary. Romo would play with boys because no other girls played soccer. So she would play with the boys at West Goshen elementary. Romo said “I started playing soccer when I was six years old.”
Romo didn’t know there was a middle school soccer team or high school soccer team, until her older brother told her. Romo work very hard in training to get on the team. Romo worked very hard to get on the team. Romo made it on to middle school soccer team and high school soccer team.
When she played for Goshen a person from IPFW came to three games and on the 3rd one she pulled her aside. The pressure was on Romo had to decide ether to stay at Goshen College or go to IPFW. Romo visited the campus and saw the class rooms. Then they dropped the bomb on her. Romo had to know either yes or no! Finally, she decided to go to IPFW.
Romo has always wanted to be a soccer player since she was six years old. When Romo told us she had no idea what she would do other then be a soccer player. Today Romo is very excited for the future and where ever her soccer career takes her I hope she has fun with her team with her family as will.
