The rising basketball star, Errick McCollum has become a better athlete every year.
McCollum has had a lot of years to think about his career. “I had some talent, but I had to work a lot.” McCollum worked for everything he is or has now. And because of that, he is now a professional CBA basketball player in Zhejiang, China. He travels to new places and sees new things. For example, he traveled to Greece, Israel, and Europe to play basketball.
“I want to have something to build for my future.” McCollum said. McCollum makes goals for himself every year. One of his goals is to make a deep playoff run. McCollum graduated 4 years from Goshen College. At 22, he turned a lot of good jobs down to be a basketball player. “I look back and I think I made a good choice.” McCollum said. McCollum has also made a new record scoring 82 points in just one game! That is something he should never forget.
You are probably wondering, how did McCollum go from Goshen College, to a professional CBA basketball player? McCollum had always made sure his work was done, and took it seriously. College is a big deal and when you turn out to be someone like McCollum, you have nothing to worry about. “The best part was the camaraderie, having people you can call family, and opportunities for education…What will happen, is what will be.” Errick said. Being away from family is probably really hard for McCollum especially if it’s for 2 years. McCollum has stayed humble and positive. “There is something that may be good for you, and you may have to leave your family for it.” McCollum said.
You are probably wondering, how did McCollum get through all these obstacles, and still be positive? Things might be tough at some point but you have to remember to stay humble, positive, and take risks in life just like Errick did.
