Breaking records for the CBA. Making ESPN Top 10 list. On top of all of that, being in the CBA. Errick McCollum has done all of that.
McCollum was in the ESPN Top 10 list. This happened because of an unexpected dunk that he made when he was in college basketball at Goshen College. “It was a phenomenal feeling.” said McCollum when he was chosen for ESPN Top 10 list. Not only did McCollum make ESPN Top 10 list, but this grabbed the attention of potential agents. Errick McCollum got his agent from being on ESPN Top 10 list, and unlike other basketball players, McCollum has kept his agent for 6 years.
Some people may think that 82 points in a game is impossible. Not for Errick McCollum. In just a regular season game McCollum’s coach wanted him to score at least 30 points for the game. McCollum was doing really well early on in the game, so then he thought that he could at least score around 40-50 points in this one game. Instead he scored 82. “It was different.” McCollum expressed with happiness. This game gave him many opportunities. Even though McCollum’s mother was unable to come to the game, his girlfriend had the chance to share this wonderful experience with him.
Its not always easy for McCollum to communicate with his teammates. He says it can sometimes be difficult, but luckily he has a translator. When his translator isn’t with him he has even more of a difficult time. Some of McCollum’s teammates can speak very little English or can speak a little bit mare than others but they still have a hard time. The players on national teams have better English compared to others in the CBA. When he does talk to his teammates he has to talk slower and annunciate more than he would with someone who speaks fluent English.
