Write on Sports has been a great experience for me. These two weeks have taught me so much about my writing. This isn’t just a boring camp either, where you just sit and write and read. You get to go on trips and interview famous athletes. You can make videos and blog posts. The most important thing though, is that I know that I am leaving this camp with a lot more knowledge about writing and reporting, than I’ve ever had. So I’m so glad I attended this camp, because if I did not, I would be at my house sleeping or doing nothing. But instead, I was here playing games, getting an AMAZING lunch, and getting to do what I love; write.
Sure you have dead lines on your blog posts, and on your videos, but that is just getting you ready for what real writers do. They have 30 minute deadlines, and stories to write at 11:00 pm. They have stress that you barely experience in Write on Sports.
Now, if I’m going to be honest, I have to tell you about the lunches here. You get to eat in the Goshen College cafeteria, and their food is delicious! They serve a variety of foods, and they have a snack bar with cookies, pies, and lots more. Not to mention the ice cream machine and cones that is open 24/7. In fact, every day I look forward to going to lunch.
Also, we go on lots of trips. This year, we went to Notre Dame and interviewed Bonzie Coleson, and a few swimmers. Also we visited the WNDU studios and got to see how they do things there. Then we went to a South Bend Cubs baseball game, that personally was my favorite. Even if it sounds boring it was really fun. I have never watched baseball or played it in my life, but three of us caught balls and I all around had a good time.
Furthermore, I do nott think I could have asked for better teachers in this camp. They always answered my questions, and they are so knowledgable about writing. I definitely had a great time with all of them, and hope I will see them again next year.
If you are even remotely interested in Write on Sports camp, I think you should do it. You definitely will not regret it, and will have a great time.
