Sam Grewe visited Write On Sports and spoke to the reporters about his experience with his bone disease battle.
Grewe played many sports as a kid. But when he was older, the only sport that caught his mind was Track and Field. Grewe loved high jump, he started going to practice and working on how high he could jump.
Grewe was in junior high on the basketball team, but he had major pains in his right leg. Grewe moved on but the pains just got worse. Soon enough, Grewe went to visit a doctor. The results were heart-breaking.
Grewe was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a bone disease. Grewe was in the hospital for a while, due to the bone cancer and pain in his right leg, they unfortunately had to amputate his right leg. Grewe was in pain for a while, the thoughts going through his mind were incredible. Grewe was still motivated to participate in track and field.
Grewe needed to learn how to use a prosthetic leg. The first six months were hard for Grewe.
