Samantha Murray is a runner from Notre Dame that started her career in Defiance. She started running in seventh grade but it wasn’t until high school is when she started getting national attention. She got the attention because in her sophomore year of high school she got third at state in the eight hundred meter. Then in her junior year she got second place in the eight hundred meter, and finally in her senior year of high school she won the eight hundred meter.
She had a great year in her senior year of high school but now she has to decide what school. Samantha narrowed it down to three choices Michigan University, Brown University, and the University of Notre Dame. Eventually she decided to go to Notre Dame. At Notre Dame they changed her role from high school by being on the cross country and the track and field teams. Even though she runs a lot she has never ran a marathon.
Some of her advice to kids was “You will get beat, you’ll get beat a lot.” Which ultimately gets to never give up stuff like that but then she kept talking about how to not get down if you lose in anything and how to keep mentally strong and what she does to keep calm. Samantha says to keep her calm before races she like to listen to Katy Perry music. Also something that keeps her calm just in her life is going to the south quad of Notre Dame.
