Anthony Anderson interviewed Bob Toews at the Newcomer center at Goshen College. It was on July 17, 2017.
Bob Toews is 54 years old. He is a assistant director of institutional research and academic database manager at Goshen College. He started stair climbing when he was in 8th grade. In high school he played basketball and football. He was a guard in both of those sports. His first race was in 2006. He grew up in Kansas.
Toews has a son named Ben. They climbed together for a couple of years. Then Ben moved to Kansas and they stopped climbing together. They only climb together when Bob is in town. Also Toews has a daughter named Sarah. He has been married for 31 years to Brenda.
He does his cardio on stairs. “Most of my cardio is on stairs.” He works on his strengths. “I do try to get in at least a stair workout a week.” Toews has a workout this weekend and he didn’t want to do. He has a coach that lives in Colorado. “I got connected with my coach about a year and a half ago.”
Bob has to go to LA, California for a stair climbing race. It is in the US Bank Building in September 24, 2017. His tallest he climbed was Willis Tower in Chicago. He doesn’t run that much. “I’m not a runner, though I probably should be.”
