Today is July 18th, 2018, and we interviewed Vincent Kibunja. Vincent was born in Kenya. When he was young, he played soccer and loved to play it all the time. When Vincent was in school one day, his coach told him that he should try running one day and Vincent just said “ok.” Vincent’s training was running to school and back, which was usually twelve miles.
When Vincent came here he was at a college in New York but he did’t really like it. Vincent usually runs six to eight miles a day. His coach usually wants him to run 70 miles in a week. His coach is Rustin Nyce. Vincent’s fastest mile was 4 minutes and 27 seconds but he wants to make it a 4 minutes and 15 seconds. Vincent’s inspiration are Kenyan runners that are really good. If he’s running and something hurts he always says, “you can’t die.”
Vincent loves to run and never wants to stop. Vincent has to make sacrifices, but it is easy because he is use to having schedules in sports. The hardest moment for Vincent was running when it was windy and he had to bend over to run. Vincent’s favorite meet was when he couldn’t run but he could cheer on his teammates and he just loved that.
