Gerardo Abad is a Junior at Goshen College and he is studying Elementary Education. Gerardo goes by G because some people can’t say his name. He runs track and has been doing it for 9 years. His dad inspired him to run. “He is my idol and he still is.” says G. He found out in 7th grade and started doing it in high school. He did it for 4 years in high school and 5 years in College. His fastest time for the mile is 4:32. He has ran for 18 miles in high school because he got lost. G’s favorite meet was in high school when it rained and it was muddy and some people slid down the mud. G played Basketball, soccer, wrestling, and he swam.
Before G came to GC he went to a different college. He doesn’t have a brand of shoe that he recommended for running. His academics comes first then his running then everything else. G says “Always academics then running.” G does for his workout is mile repeats, runs, once a week he lifts weights. His least favorite meet is in the winter when it’s time to race because it’s cold outside and he has to bundle up then take it off and put it back on. He doesn’t like to lose he likes to win but it’s ok if he loses. G wants to be really good at Goshen. He said “I want to be the best for the team so we can be the best.” He goal is to coach track because helped with the high school and he really liked it.
