On July 10, 2019, Write On sports interviewed Chris Finke. Finke grew up in Dayton Ohio. He is not that tall at 5’10” and not that big at 182 pounds. But he is deadly. Finke has been at Notre Dame playing football for 5 years. He redshirted his freshman year. Finke actually walked on to Notre Dame. He didn’t have many people recruiting him coming out of high school. Even though it is $65,000 dollars to go to ND Finke still managed to go. When Finke was asked if going to the NFL was in his future, he said,”That’s my goal.” Hear that NFL scouts!, I know you did.
Finke did not see the field his freshmen year, but his sophomore year, he played 10 games for the Fighting Irish. He caught ten passes for 122 yards and 2 touchdowns. His Junior year Finke played in all thirteen games! Including the bowl game against LSU! Finke caught six passes for 102 yards including a 42 yard touchdown against Miami. His Senior season was probably the best of them all. He had 47 catches for 547 yards and 2 touchdowns! He also had 19 punt returns with a long of 52 yards. That is incredible! Finke’s best catch was against Michigan and it was insane. Brandon Wimbush went back to pass and threw it deep. Finke soared in the air and caught on his defender’s helmet. It was insane! “It was like a blur,I though Brandon got sacked then I saw it in the air and jumped up and grabbed it!” Said Finke.
Finke also won the Walk On Award! Finke’s favorite tradition before a game is when he and his team do the walk. The walk is when the team gives fans high fives and when the team say hi to their parents on their way into the locker room. When Finke was asked if he likes head coach Brian Kelley, he said this “I love coach Kelley.”When he mentally prepares for a game, Finke usually stays in a hotel with teammates. It makes him think only about football. Finke’s favorite game he played in, was either the Michigan game at the beginning of his senior season or the USC game at the end of the season. This all proves that Finke is a great player and he is Small but deadly.
