On July 10, 2019, Write on Sports had the privilege of interviewing Chris Finke. He is a 5th year senior and a starting wide receiver for Notre Dame. Last season his stats were 47 catches with 547 yards and two touchdowns. He joined the Irish as a walk-on in 2015. Yesterday when I asked him what his favorite game was he said “The Virginia Tech game last year. The atmosphere was amazing and it was fun to be able to quiet the crowd right from the start of the game.” He won the Walk-On of the year award at Notre Dame in 2019. When asked about the college football playoff he said it was really fun and a great experience.
He said his favorite NFL player right now is Julian Edelman and that he tries to make his game like his. When I asked him if he thought if the Georgia rematch this year would be fun he said: “It will be fun because we will be able to play at there home crowd and there is a little bit of revenge going into the game this year because they beat us last time we played them.” When asked what was his favorite pregame tradition he said “The Walk. It’s when we walk and high five fans and parents on the way to the locker room.” When asked about the college football playoff and being down big was there ever a thought to give up he said “That never came across the team’s mind. Just because we are losing doesn’t mean that you give up. The team played as hard as they could every snap.”
Later in the interview, I asked him what his favorite moment was last year. He said “The Michigan game when I had the big touchdown catch. When I was looking back I couldn’t see Brandan Wimbush and then I saw the ball and thought I have to catch this and then I caught it on the helmet of the defender and then the crowd was going wild.” Then I asked him was it fun watching Myles Boykin at the NFL combine. He said “It was exciting because everyone thought he was slow but we all knew he was fast and he ended up running a 4.42 at the 40-yard dash. Then at the vertical leap, I knew he was a freak athlete and then he ended up jumping one of the best verticals. It was a really fun experience.” I told him that I hope the Eagles will get him next year because we need some wide receivers. I believe next year that Chris will have a breakout year and play well and then get drafted in the NFL draft. This is Elisha Rauch from Write on Sports.
