GOSHEN, Ind. – Stabat, an a cappella men’s vocal ensemble comprised of 13 current and former Goshen College music students and other music lovers from the community, will perform a program of sacred and secular songs for a cappella men’s chorus during their Spring Concert on April 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Sauder Concert Hall. The program will range from Renaissance and Romantic Era works by Byrd, Palestrina and Schubert, to contemporary works and arrangements of hymns by Stabat members.

Stabat will also perform on Tuesday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Rieth Recital Hall with organists Christine Thögersen, assistant professor of music, and Roseann Penner-Kaufman as part of the Organ Dedication Week activities. That program will feature Stabat performing several Bach chorales.

Stabat men’s vocal ensemble was formed by Goshen College students and community members a year ago, out of their love for singing a cappella music. Now 13 members strong, the group actively performs on and off campus. Members of the group are current students Daniel Clouse (Soph., Goshen), Andrew Fairfield (Jr., Bridgewater, Va.), Andrew Gingerich (Sr., Hubbard, Ore.), Brooks Gingerich (Soph., Aurora, Ore.), Luke Gingerich (Soph., Aurora, Ore.), Justin Heinz (Jr., Goshen), Philip Kendall (Sr., Greentown, Ind.), Will Leichty (Sr., Wellman, Iowa), Daniel Stutzman (Sr., Goshen, Ind.), Goshen College graduates Geoff Owens, Julian Gingerich and Andre Swartley, and area resident Luke Mullet.

Group member Brooks Gingerich said, “The group has a variety of different voices for a variety of different ranges.”

Tickets for the concert are $5 for adults, $3 for seniors/students and free for GC students with ID. They can be purchased at the door or by contacting the Goshen College Welcome Center at (574) 535-7566 or welcomecenter@goshen.edu.
