56th Annual Concerto-Aria
Seven student winners of the 2016 Goshen College Concerto-Aria Competition performed arias and individual concerto movements with the Goshen College Symphony Orchestra in the 56th annual Concerto-Aria Concert on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall.
Performing were:
- Mikhail Fernandes, euphonium, performing “Euphonium Fantasy” by Fraser. Fernandez is a senior interdisciplinary studies major from Hyderabad, India.
- Martin Flowers, tenor, singing “The Major-General’s Song” from Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic opera “The Pirates of Penzance”. Flowers is a senior music and theater double major from Nappanee, Indiana.
- Vince Kurtz, violin, performing “Concerto in D, movement 1” by Tchaikovsky. Kurtz is a junior music and physics double major from Rochester, New York.
- Peter Paetkau, violin, performing “Concerto in A minor, movement 3” by Shostakovich. Paetkau is a junior music and Bible and religion major from Goshen.
- Wade Troyer, piano, performing “Concerto in A minor, movement 3” by Grieg. Troyer is a junior music and Spanish double major from South Bend, Indiana.
- Paul Zehr, baritone and Jacob Zehr, tenor, singing “Au Fond du temple saint” by Bizet. Paul is a senior music and theater double major, and Jacob is a sophomore music major. Both are from from Carthage, New York.
