Opening convocation and applause tunnel
Goshen College students, faculty and staff kicked off the year right during the opening convocation and annual applause tunnel.
Our “Applause Tunnel” is a 14-year tradition that takes place each new school year after the opening convocation to welcome new and returning students back to campus. Two lines depart the Church-Chapel, led by faculty and staff, who applaud the seniors, juniors, sophomores and finally the first-year students. Normally, the line progresses outside the building and into the middle of campus. Similarly, at Commencement each year, the faculty and administrators line the corridor of the Rec-Fitness Center and applaud the departing seniors for a job well done and wishing them the best in their futures.
