On Wednesday, Sept. 20, first-year students volunteered locally during the 19th annual Community Engagement Day. They served at locations like La Casa Inc., The Boys & Girls Club of Goshen, Pathways Retreat Center, Habitat for Humanity, Soup for Success, Greencroft, the MCC Relief Sale and cleaning up the Elkhart River.
GC opened up the school year with an opening welcome convocation, followed by the annual applause tunnel and dunking Ken Newbold, interim president, in the Schrock Plaza fountain.

At Goshen College, tuition covers only about 65 percent of the actual cost of educating each student. March 17, 2017 represented the approximate point in the fiscal year when revenue from tuition stops covering educational costs.
