Seven student winners of the 2017 Goshen College Concerto-Aria Competition performed arias and individual concerto movements with the Goshen College Symphony Orchestra in the 57th annual Concerto-Aria Concert on Saturday, Feb. 11.
More than 20 Science Olympiad teams from 15 area middle and high schools gathered on the Goshen College campus to compete in hands-on science events for the annual Science Olympiad regional tournament on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017.
The Goshen College community honored the life and work of Martin Luther King, Jr. by holding an all-school study day, emphasizing the values and ideals that characterized King’s work. This year’s theme reminds the Goshen community that #ItIsTime: time to tell your truth, time to speak, time to tend to trauma, time for restoration, and time for compassion.
Goshen College presented the 13th annual musical celebration of Christmas, “A Festival of Carols,” on Friday, Dec. 2-4 in the Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall. Performers included the Goshen College Chamber Choir, Men’s Chorus, Women’s World Music Choir, Goshen College Symphony Orchestra and Shout For Joy Children’s Choir.
Goshen College’s annual Homecoming Weekend took place Oct. 7-9, and included alumni awards, an alumni bicycle ride, Goshen’s First Friday activities, an alumni breakfast, forums, book signings, Ultimate frisbee, a hymn sing, a Peace Play, art exhibit, a music gala and more.
Students showed off their gifts and talents during the Fall 2016 Kick Off talent show on Sept. 24.
On Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, first-year students took a day off from classes to volunteer in the community. Students lent their time and talents to places like La Casa, Inc., The Boys and Girls Club, Soup of Success, Habitat for Humanity, Greencroft, Pathways Retreat Center, MCC and cleaned up the Elkhart River.
Team Instruments vs. Team Voice matched up for the 4th annual Music Department Kick-A-Dilly Match on Wednesday, August 31 at the Mary K. Oyer Kickball Field just south of the Music Center.
On Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, President Jim Brenneman opened the 2016-17 academic year with a speech about passionate learning, followed by the annual applause tunnel, a GC tradition that welcomes new and returning students back to campus.
